The People of AFS: Fertility Physicians

Galina Karpenko, M.D

Galina Karpenko, MD joined American Fertility Services as Medical Director of the Egg Dononation Program. She brings over twenty years of research and experience in obstetrics, gynecology and women’s reproductive health to AFS. Dr. Karpenko graduated with a medical degree from Voronezh State Medical Academy in Russia and completed a residency there in obstetrics and gynecology. She did extensive research in the field of female infertility and worked with the team of pioneers for tubal reconstructive surgery in Russia. Her teaching experience in Russia, included her role as Assistant Clinical Professor, in obstetrics and gynecology, where she taught medical students and midwifes.

Dr. Karpenko came to the United States and spent almost 5 years working in the field of obstetrics and reproductive health. In addition, Dr. Karpenko worked on research for a recombinant DNA laboratory in New York City. She also gained experience as a clinical manager and egg donor coordinator for an IVF Program in Manhattan, before completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Methodist Hospital. Galina was named among the nation’s best teaching residents in Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey.

Dr.Karpenko’s research paper in Thrombophilia and Assisted reproductive technologies won an award from New York Obstetrical Society in 2006.

Galina is a member of American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Junior Fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and American Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (ASLS).

Dr. Karpenko sees patients in our Midtown, Manhattan office, where her focus is on treating infertility patients, overseeing the Egg Donation Program and performing gynecologic surgery. She speaks fluent Russian.
